For those of you who think Kansas is flat ...

I took this a couple of weeks ago at the overlook on K-177 south of Manhattan, looking out over the Konza Prairie. This is an expanse of the Flint Hills where researchers can study the prairie ecosystems. This picture doesn't begin to show the beauty of it. It was a hazy day -- sometimes those hills in the distance are much clearer.

Looks flat to me -- not as flat as Turlock -- but still relatively flat -- if you're used to seeing mountains all the time. But I like it. Rolling flat is a lot more interesting than flat flat.

And it's not as flat as central Illinois! But my photography doesn't do the hills justice. Some parts of the Flint Hills are quite dramatic -- sure it's not mountains, but it ain't flat, either. :)
